Opened in early 2004, the Ashbox is a pleasant sunlit cafe, light and clean, which serves breakfast, bagles, soups, salads and hot or cold sandwiches.
The Ashbox irrefutably

A nice addition to the neighborhood, especially if you're on the far side of McGuinness. Opened in late 2005, Cafe Grumpy serves Victrola Coffee
(straight from Seattle's Capital Hill) as well as light vegetarian fare. Open weekdays: 7:30am - 8pm, Saturday: 9am - 11pm, and Sunday: 10am - 7pm.

Dark wood interior with booths, sofa chairs and bar seating. Low light ambiance, with more of a restaurant feel in the evening. Coffee, beer and wine are served, as well as a full menu.

A small cafe with a hodgepodge mixture of styles. There's a rustic courtyard out back where chess is often
played during the summer. Close to the Greenpoint Avenue G stop. It's near Java street and they sell hand
made shelving, thus java and wood.

Fresh donuts and pastries are made on premises daily. Drop in and get nostalgic, this is a local institution. Peter Pan
stands next to the present day Eckerd drug store, formerly the Meserole Movie Theatre, and later Laces Skating Rink
(hence the huge disco ball that hangs from the Eckerd cieling).

The reincarnation of the former Chocolatiere Bakery, Riviera serves top quality pasteries (for only $2.00) and coffee. A welcome
addition to the neighborhood, as it is one of very few places to lounge in the middle section of Manhattan Avenue. Aside from
the Robert Doisneau photos on the wall and its name, the cafe is Polish.

Fresh made Polish pastries and breads. Most customers stand at the counter picking up pastries to go, although a few tables stand at the
